Sorry about the delay, guys. We're doing our best to speed the process along, but Curse recently acquired quite a few sites from the Wikia fallout, so it's taking a bit longer than we'd thought.
Also, they had BlizzCon to deal with, so it isn't great timing.
The new PvX will be up as soon as possible.

It takes as long as it takes KJ. I'll be glad to see it back up though. Are you only moving PvX? What about the rest of the wiki?

Now imagine if everyone was as condescending to you as you are about the also understaffed Arenanet.
I'm just saying.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you're referencing GWikia, then yes I believe they're moving as well (although, I'm not sure where).
GWikia and PvX haven't been one site in quite some time.

If your comment is directed at me, then let me clear something up.
I have no problems with Anet's development staff. I think they do amazing jobs. As a matter of fact, I've praised John Stumme's cojones with these new visions he's decided to share with us. I don't always like what they add, but the work they do is good.
I just think that Anet's Community Relations and PR departments are terrible (which, many would agree with me). As Community Managers, they're terrible at managing their community and relating to their community. The TK was a nice try, but that hasn't worked out so well.
Just saying. I have both good and bad things to say

I'm just very very happy they are moving over to Mediawiki, wikia's layout always annoyed me, look at the DBZ or touhou wikis, now they look like ass.

Wikia uses Mediawiki (always has). It's just that they make it very, very ugly and not user-friendly.

Mediawiki is the name of the software, almost all wikis run on it. The skin is something else entirely - the traditional wikipedia, pvx, etc skin was called Monobook. You can still see pvx in monobook if you have an account, log in, and change it to monobook in your preferences.
We're pretty sure wikia is going to remove that ability sooner or later though - they say they won't, but they've lied about everything else so far.

I havent been using the old wiki in quite some time since the last big change they made, (and when I log in I have to repick my background choices every other time or so, not to mention to log in sometimes I have to twice before I am actually logged in )
so I believe I can understand your attitude towards whats happening....I just hope that the changes go the way you all want them to and not the way the wiki does (monobook is better than the ughly thing that have as default)......
so good luck.

Thanks, Cosy. We're hoping that Curse will be a better option, especially with GWGuru and Gwiki there with us (yes, GWiki is moving to Curse).
We want the best for our editors and contributors, and after fighting with Wikia repeatedly, we realized that we couldn't help people as long as we were restricted by Wikia.
Again, the site will be up soon, as Curse has had a few hiccups along the way. We're looking at the end of this week at the latest (hopefully).

Just a small question. Why do we have 2 wikis? I always use the official wiki, because it's good, user friendly and well.. official In the past, i didn't know about a official one, and went to wikia. But ever since i found the official one, i don't c why i shouldn't use that one
I do use pvxwiki tho. And the joke builds are slightly annoying. But it's not very annoying, because there are not much new builds added in the last months. But this will prolly change after the next skill update.

Can we appreciate a couple of my favourite quotes on the recently much improved PvX:
'The key to this build is the synergy of Hamstring and Fire Storm. Strike with a Hamstring attack to cripple your fleeing opponent, then rain fire down upon them as he slowly limps away. This ensures inevitable death upon your unfortunate foes.'
'Use Galrath Slash to bring more pain upon your enemy, dealing massive damage that will most likely kill.'
'A 3-step guide to running a flag with a Life Barrier Monk! (Courtesy of Ensign)
Step 1: Beat the hell out of their team and their flagger until they are forced to cap first.
Step 2: Walk the flag in with the Barrier Monk while continuing to use Blessed Signet on recharge.
Step 3: When their flagger comes back with another flag, kill him and return it.
Repeat Step 3 until they rout to their boat. Then kill all their dudes and their Guild Lord. Remember kids, if you kill their flagger you don't have to run flags!'
Absolute genius great writing... something makes me prefer these old school builds oh well i guess metas must shift

Yeah i never got that, i know Anet wanted to create a wiki so that they can hotlink from the game to their site, which makes perfect sense, but i had expected that the unofficial wiki would cry in a corner and slowly die out, that didnt happen.
I found wikia to be usefull up untill a year or so ago, when i was looking at some pvx build, with links to videos, clicked on one, had to wait about 15 seconds for their silly ad and telling that im leaving wikia, please wait.
However knowing that both the gwiki and pvx go to the curse network is great, maybe even put links on the forum index of this site would be usefull, you'll have the forums and wiki links in one place, which would be awesome.

The unofficial wiki did not die because it often had different or more complete information on some subjects. Remember that it was there first and the official wiki is still playing catchup in some areas. Having two great wikis has been wonderful and I would regret seeing the unofficial one disappear.

long ago I used the unofficial one since it had a good layout, better (see more) pics of armor (not just the red ones the official one has for most still)...as well as dyed armors. The mission information was better with hints and such.....then the official wiki happened. I still continued to use the first one as I liked its set up a lot more than the official (still do). Then the unofficial changed --not for the better, the background was hideous, so the only way to NOT see it was to log in.....and get logged out very quickly when trying to view different pages, that became annoying for me and part of the reason I started to use the official one.......then somewhere down the road the official had more up to date information than the unofficial so I started to use it more (though still use the other for armors and mission or quest hints).....and I dont have to log into the official one to have a background I can live with.
There are still quite a few things I like about the first and will still go to them first for those things....but until they give me a background I can live with (without logging in multiple times) I wont use it much (I will still fumble around on the official site to find stuff).

I wouldn't mind the unofficial one dying. That'd just mean everyone who contributed (and contributed greatly) to it would post the information on the official wiki instead. Consolidation of information, I don't see any downsides...

You can't just copy people's writing to the official wiki without permission. That's the sole reason there were less complete articles in the first place. And yeah, alot of that info is from contributors who aren't even active anymore.

We're not touching any of the meta or good builds. As long as you know what you're looking for, you'll be fine.
If you don't.....then you're pseudo-boned. For that, I apologize.
